LYR Paw Protecting Stick is a fragrance-free, lick-safe paw balm you apply straight on – without getting it on your fingers. Developed and tested in the mountains of Hemsedal, Norway, for dogs that are outside all year.

Ice and snow
Snow packs between the pads and forms ice balls. The balm makes the surface slick so snow won't cling.

Road salt and grit
Salt dries out and stings in small cracks. A protective film keeps the salt out and the moisture in.

Asphalt and rock
Hot summer asphalt and sharp autumn rock wear the pads down. Soft, supple pads crack less.

A solid balm in stick form that melts against the skin on contact. Apply a thin layer to the pads and between the toes before a walk, and after the walk once the paws are dry. Your dog can lick afterwards without harm.

Dry the paws
Brush off snow, sand and grit. Dry pads take the balm best.

Apply a thin layer
Twist up the stick and run it over the pads and between the toes.

Head out
The balm absorbs in a couple of minutes. Repeat after the walk for overnight care.

Who, what, where
From Hemsedal, to paws everywhere.
Lyr Nordic is a Norwegian dog company based in Hemsedal, 640 metres above sea level. We have dogs ourselves and we're out with them every day – in the mountains, on the ski tracks and on salted winter roads.
LYR Paw Protecting Stick is our first product. We made it because jars of paw balm are sticky, perfumed and impossible to use with gloves on. The stick solved that.

What people ask.
Is the balm safe if my dog licks it?
Yes. LYR Paw Protecting Stick is formulated to be lick-safe: it contains only natural oils and waxes, so the small amounts a dog licks off after application are harmless. Let it absorb for a couple of minutes, and don't let your dog eat a lot at once. It is fragrance-free.
How often should I apply it?
Before every walk in cold, snow or on salted roads, and ideally after the walk once the paws are dry. In summer a few times a week is enough, or after long walks on asphalt and rock.
Does it suit all dogs?
Yes, the balm can be used on all breeds and sizes, puppies included. If your dog has open wounds or deep cracks, have a vet look at them first.
How long does one stick last?
One stick normally lasts a medium-sized dog a whole winter with daily use. Large dogs or two dogs use roughly twice as much.
When will I get my order?
The first batch of 500 arrives in December 2026 and ships in the order pre-orders were confirmed. A larger batch follows in early 2027.
How do I pay?
You pay nothing when you pre-order. Once the goods are in Norway we send you a payment link (card or Vipps). You can cancel any time before paying.
Do you ship outside Norway?
Initially we ship within Norway. Delivery to the rest of the Nordics and Europe comes in 2027. Leave your email and we'll let you know.
What's in it?
Eight ingredients: sunflower seed oil, coconut oil, white beeswax, vegetable oil, shea butter, carnauba wax, candelilla wax and vitamin E. No fragrance, colour or parabens. Note that it contains beeswax and is therefore not vegan.
